Is the World of Warships community as friendly as people say?

Not a complaint, just genuinely puzzled by the behaviour. Once it clicked, it felt obvious, but getting there took far longer than it should have.

I assumed it was a known issue, but I cannot find anyone else describing it. I will report back once I have tested it properly.

Had the exact same issue. nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

That fixed it for me, at least.

Adding to the above: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Worth checking first: nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Adding to the above: the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Slightly different take — the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.

In my testing, ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

This is the bit people miss — that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, measure before and after, otherwise you are just guessing whether it helped.

That fixed it for me, at least.
