1440p on a mid-range GPU — realistic settings

This started as a small annoyance and turned into a proper rabbit hole. The community consensus seems to have shifted twice since I last played.

This started as a small annoyance and turned into a proper rabbit hole. The community consensus seems to have shifted twice since I last played.

I tested it across a couple of sessions and the difference was smaller than the forums made it sound. Marking this solved once something actually works.

The usual fix here is the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

This is the bit people miss — it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

This comes up a lot, so: it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

Counterpoint: the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.
