Which affinity should I stack first? (second attempt)

Spent most of the weekend on this and I am still not sure I understand it. My results were consistent across three attempts, so I do not think it was luck.

What confuses me is that it behaves differently depending on the order I do things in. Will update the post if I find a cleaner solution.
