Long-time lurker, first proper post. Two settings appear to interact in a way the menu does not hint at.

Any pointers appreciated, even partial ones.

Short version: worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

In my testing, do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

Others may have a cleaner method.

Counterpoint: measure before and after, otherwise you are just guessing whether it helped.

Same boat here. give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

Counterpoint: this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

That fixed it for me, at least.

Slightly different take — it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

Not the answer you want, but the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.

Let us know which part worked.

Quick correction to the above: verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

Not the answer you want, but it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

This comes up a lot, so: it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

Worth checking first: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Worth checking first: you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal.

Good luck, it is a common snag.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

In my testing, that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

Agreed on most of this, except the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Not the answer you want, but the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

Good luck, it is a common snag.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

I went through this last month. keep a note of what you changed, otherwise you cannot undo it cleanly later.
