   Which genre have you completely written off?

   I have read the FAQ and it does not cover this case. Turning one setting down fixed it, which raises more questions than it answers. I tested it across a couple of sessions and the difference was smaller than the forums made it sound. Any pointers appreciated, even partial ones.

   Agreed on most of this, except do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes. Others may have a cleaner method.

   Agreed on most of this, except you get most of the benefit from the first adjustment; everything after that is marginal. That fixed it for me, at least.
