Battery drain — settings that actually help

Reposting with more detail after my last thread got no traction. The difference only becomes obvious once you look at the frame times rather than the average.

Any pointers appreciated, even partial ones.

Had the exact same issue. give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

From experience, region and server load matter more than most guides acknowledge.

Counterpoint: do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

The usual fix here is do the cheap diagnostic first — it costs nothing and rules out half the causes.

That fixed it for me, at least.

Depends on your setup, but broadly nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Short version: worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

This comes up a lot, so: verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

Worth checking first: the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

Not the answer you want, but worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

That fixed it for me, at least.

Same boat here. worth testing on a second account to rule out something profile-specific.

Not the answer you want, but that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

Let us know which part worked.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

Had the exact same issue. check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.

Adding to the above: ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

In my testing, do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Quick correction to the above: measure before and after, otherwise you are just guessing whether it helped.

For what it is worth, keep a note of what you changed, otherwise you cannot undo it cleanly later.

Good luck, it is a common snag.
