Coming back after a long break and trying to catch up. Turning one setting down fixed it, which raises more questions than it answers.

Still open to better approaches if anyone has one.

Agreed on most of this, except the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

This is the bit people miss — give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.

Not the answer you want, but do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Agreed on most of this, except that behaviour is intentional, even though it is poorly explained in-game.

Counterpoint: the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

Short version: give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.

Quick correction to the above: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Same boat here. give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.
