Not sure if this is the right board, move me if needed. I compared notes with a friend and we got completely different outcomes on similar hardware.

I assumed it was a known issue, but I cannot find anyone else describing it. Hopefully this saves someone else the afternoon it cost me.

Same boat here. ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

Only partly related, but temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Worth checking first: the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.

Quick correction to the above: this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

The usual fix here is measure before and after, otherwise you are just guessing whether it helped.

Agreed on most of this, except it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.

Adding to the above: do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

Adding to the above: the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

Same boat here. the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.

Worth a shot before anything drastic.
