Long-time lurker, first proper post. It behaves as expected on one account and not on another, same device.

Everything I read suggests it should just work, and for me it very much does not. Would rather learn the right way now than build a bad habit.

Worth checking first: the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

Report back once you have tried it.

Had the exact same issue. the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, ignore the loudest advice; the boring answer is usually the correct one here.

Had the exact same issue. this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

Quick correction to the above: nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

Same boat here. region and server load matter more than most guides acknowledge.

Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, temperature is the usual culprit when performance degrades over a session.

Not the answer you want, but the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.

This is the bit people miss — the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

Had the exact same issue. the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

I went through this last month. verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.
