Region-locked codes — is there a workaround?
Reposting with more detail after my last thread got no traction. Everything I read suggests it should just work, and for me it very much does not.

I assumed it was a known issue, but I cannot find anyone else describing it. Curious whether that matches what everyone else is seeing.

Agreed on most of this, except it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

I went through this last month. the wiki number is theoretical; real results are always a bit lower.

In my testing, the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.
Worth a shot before anything drastic.

Worth checking first: the defaults are conservative on purpose, so there is usually headroom to gain.

Counterpoint: give it a clean reinstall before assuming the hardware is at fault.
