Two settings appear to interact in a way the menu does not hint at. Interested in the counter-argument if there is one.

Not the answer you want, but it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

Adding to the above: if it only happens in one mode, that narrows it down considerably.

Not the answer you want, but this changed for me after the last patch, so older threads may steer you wrong.

For what it is worth, it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.
Report back once you have tried it.

Adding to the above: the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

Only partly related, but the averages hide the problem; look at the one percent lows instead.

Short version: nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.
Good luck, it is a common snag.

Worth checking first: check whether an overlay is running before blaming the game itself.

Short version: verify the files before anything else; it catches more problems than people expect.

Counterpoint: it depends heavily on your specific setup, so take any single number with a grain of salt.

Agreed on most of this, except the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.
That fixed it for me, at least.

I went through this last month. the trick is to change one thing at a time and actually note the result before touching anything else.
That fixed it for me, at least.

This is the bit people miss — the community guide covers this better than I can, but the summary is to prioritise the basics first.
