   Curious how everyone else approaches this, because my way feels clumsy. I got it working once and then could not repeat it, which is the frustrating part.

   My results were consistent across three attempts, so I do not think it was luck. Thanks in advance to anyone who chips in.

   Only partly related, but the safe move is the reversible one — you can always undo it if it makes things worse.

   Speaking as someone who got it wrong initially, the difference is real but small enough that you may not notice it while playing.

   Depends on your setup, but broadly do not copy someone else’s config wholesale — start from defaults and adjust to your own setup.

   Agreed on most of this, except nine times out of ten it is a driver or a background process, not the thing you suspect.

   Others may have a cleaner method.

    Adding to the above: it is almost always a setting rather than hardware, so try the free fixes before spending anything.
